Annual report design
An annual report has two audiences that want different things: people who will read three pages and people who will read the notes to the accounts. The design has to serve both without pretending the second group does not exist.
The whole thing is handled: the narrative front section, the data visualisation, and the financial statements where accuracy matters more than anything else. Tables and charts are rebuilt properly rather than pasted in, and everything works to the same figures your auditors signed off, checked at every proof stage.
Reports run to a fixed deadline with content arriving late from several directions. The document is built so that a late change to one section does not reflow the other two hundred pages, and the production schedule is planned backwards from the filing date.
