Social media marketing

delimiter image

Social media works when there is a reason for people to follow you and something worth seeing when they do. Most brand accounts have neither, and post anyway.

The work covers strategy, production, publishing, community management and paid, or whichever of those you actually need. It starts by establishing what your account is for, then produces and runs it to that, properly and consistently.

The work

What social media marketing involves

Deciding what the account is for

Recruitment, support, sales and reputation are four different jobs and they produce four different accounts. Trying to do all of them at once is why so many feeds read as noise. One is chosen to lead.

Fewer platforms, properly

You do not need to be everywhere. Most businesses are on at least two platforms that return nothing, and being genuinely good on the one or two where your customers are beats being present on six. That decision usually saves more budget than any other recommendation.

A plan you see in advance

Content is planned a month at a time and approved before anything goes out, with room left to react to something topical. Production, publishing and replies to comments and messages all run to that plan, and nothing appears under your name that you have not seen.

Organic and paid together

Organic reach on most platforms is now small enough that good content needs money behind it to be seen. Paid budget goes behind the posts that are already earning attention rather than boosting on a schedule.

Questions

Common questions

How often should we post?

Less often than most schedules assume, and consistently. Three good posts a week beat daily filler, and the filler actively suppresses the reach of the good ones.

Do follower numbers matter?

Rarely. A small audience of actual customers is worth more than a large one bought through giveaways, and the platforms show your posts to fewer of a disengaged audience anyway.

Should we be on TikTok?

Only if your customers are and you can produce for it properly. It punishes repurposed content more than any other platform.

Do you post under our name?

Yes, in an agreed voice, and everything is approved in advance until you are comfortable.

Who owns the accounts?

You do. The work happens inside your accounts and you keep full access throughout.

Can you handle comments, complaints and messages?

Yes, within agreed hours, an agreed tone and an agreed policy for complaints. Anything needing your expertise or judgement is passed to you rather than answered on your behalf.

Is paid budget included?

No, that is separate and paid directly by you to the platform, so you can see exactly what is spent.

How do you report?

One page monthly: what went out, what worked, what was learned and what changes next month.
